In a latest update<\/a>, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has revealed its ambitious\u00a0 plan to construct 10 new double-decker flyovers in a bid to streamline traffic flow and enhance connectivity across the key urban corridors.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten New Double Decker Flyovers For Pune<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we know that PMC has already achieved the success of the existing double-decker flyovers on Karve Road and Ganeshkhind Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, PMC, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha-Metro) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), intends to replicate this model at other critical junctions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This integrated flyover will feature the metro lines on the upper deck and vehicular traffic on the lower deck hence optimising vertical space and reducing surface-level congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can already witness the double-decker flyover at Nal Stop on Karve Road, again a joint initiative between PMC and Maha-Metro which become operational and received positive feedback from commuters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a similar structure on Ganeshkhind Road, connecting Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar as part of the metro network, is nearing completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected Location For New Flyovers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the latest proposal, PMC has suggested the below locations for the new flyovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mundhwa \u2013 Mahatma Phule Chowk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solapur Road \u2013 Kalubai Chowk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dandekar Pul Chowk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awhalwadi Chowk, Wagholi<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warje \u2013 Ambedkar Chowk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bhusari Colony \u2013 Kothrud Bus Depot<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Golibar Maidan Chowk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viman Nagar Chowk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fatimanagar Chowk, Wanowrie<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ravidarshan Junction, Manjari<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It appears that they are planning to design each flyover meticulously with the consultation with Maha-Metro to ensure seamless integration of metro lines and road traffic lanes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is expected to significantly improve the commute times further supporting the city\u2019s fast-growing population and vehicle count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the PMC is committed in enhancing the urban infrastructure as it has allocated \u20b92,000 crore to the road and traffic planning departments in the 2025-26 municipal budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are planning to utilise this funding for development of missing link roads, road widening projects, and the construction of flyovers and grade separators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of this is aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and improving the overall quality of life for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically, the implementation of these double-decker flyovers represents a forward-thinking approach to urban mobility, this way they can balance the needs of public transportation and road traffic in a sustainable manner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
