While <strong>AI Overviews<\/strong> passively summarize search results at the top of the page, <strong>AI Mode is interactive<\/strong>\u2014you can ask follow-up questions, refine searches, or even upload images. The interface resembles the standalone Gemini app but comes <strong>integrated with live search results<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s New: Product &amp; Place Cards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Google is also rolling out <strong>\u201cproduct and place cards\u201d<\/strong> in AI responses. These include <strong>images, user ratings, store hours, availability<\/strong>, and other useful metadata\u2014providing a more <strong>commerce-friendly and visual experience<\/strong> within search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cTeaching the Model How to Use Google\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Robby Stein, VP of Product at Google Search, explained that AI Mode teaches Gemini how to use Google itself\u2014essentially making the AI act like a <strong>superpowered search user<\/strong> that processes and summarizes relevant content across the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact on Publishers: Still a Concern<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The rollout comes amid concerns that <strong>AI summaries reduce website traffic<\/strong>. Google claims that it doesn\u2019t track engagement by mere appearance but by <strong>actual user interaction<\/strong> with AI Overviews.
