Employees placed on a PIP or with low performance ratings (categorized as &#8220;zero or 60% rewards outcomes&#8221;) will not be eligible for internal moves. If such employees exit, they will also face a two-year rehire ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI Tools and Culture of Accountability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft will also roll out <strong>AI-supported tools<\/strong> to assist managers in having difficult conversations, part of a broader effort to foster clarity, empathy, and accountability. Coleman stated the goal is to create a \u201cglobally consistent and transparent experience\u201d that aligns with Microsoft\u2019s growth mindset and evolving performance culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company earlier drew headlines for laying off 2,000 underperformers without severance. This new wave of measures reinforces Microsoft\u2019s shift toward <strong>performance-driven evaluation<\/strong>, a growing trend in the tech industry as companies move away from perks and emphasize measurable output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Managers Encouraged to Drive High Performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t just about Microsoft\u2019s success. This is about your success, your team\u2019s success, our customers\u2019 success,\u201d Coleman said in her note, stressing the importance of high-performing, winning teams.
