Samsung and LG argue that the policy unfairly increases financial burden. LG\u2019s 550-page filing stated that taxing companies in the name of the \u201cpolluter pays principle\u201d without fixing the informal sector\u2019s issues would not solve the problem. Samsung\u2019s 345-page filing echoed similar concerns, saying the rule could cause \u201csubstantial financial impact\u201d and fails to meet environmental goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both firms had previously urged the government to reconsider the pricing mechanism. LG claimed the new payout rates were \u201cvery high,\u201d while Samsung said the costs were \u201c5\u201315 times higher\u201d than current market rates.
