Following the recent debut of the Xiaomi 15 series in India, reports now hint at Xiaomi’s next big launch\u2014the Xiaomi 16 series\u2014set to arrive in China next year. Among the three models expected\u2014Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Ultra\u2014the Pro variant appears to be getting the most exciting upgrades in display and camera technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xiaomi 16 Pro to Feature Flat OLED Display<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the most significant shifts in the Xiaomi 16 Pro is the move from a quad-curved OLED screen to a flat design<\/a>. This marks a departure from a trend that dominated the 2024 Chinese smartphone market, where nearly all flagships flaunted curved screens. Xiaomi seems to be embracing a sleeker, more classic flat-screen approach across the 16 series lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Xiaomi 16 Pro is rumored to feature a larger 6.8-inch flat OLED panel, a noticeable upgrade from the 6.73-inch curved display in the Xiaomi 15 Pro. In contrast, the base Xiaomi 16 is expected to maintain the 6.36-inch screen size of its predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to the design evolution is the possible use of LIPO (Low-Injection Pressure Overmoulding) technology, which helps in achieving ultra-slim bezels and a higher screen-to-body ratio for a more immersive viewing experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camera Enhancements on the Horizon<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Xiaomi is also aiming to improve its imaging capabilities with the 16 Pro. The previous Xiaomi 15 Pro featured a powerful triple 50MP camera setup with a Sony IMX858 periscope lens. However, the 16 Pro is expected to push the envelope further with the inclusion of a Sony LYTIA sensor in the periscope camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the exact sensor model is unconfirmed, leaks suggest it will be larger, potentially allowing for better light capture and clearer images. The camera may also receive a new lens system with a wider aperture, promising better long-range zoom and overall image quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expected Launch Timeline<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As per Xiaomi\u2019s historical release pattern, the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro will likely launch first in China. The Ultra variant may arrive later during a separate unveiling. Whether these models will be released globally is still unclear, especially since the Xiaomi 15 Pro remained a China-exclusive model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
