In a unique initiative to promote environmental conservation, authorities in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, have introduced a new requirement for arms licence applicants \u2014 planting trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per an official release by the District Information Department, anyone applying for a new arms licence or seeking renewal<\/a> or transfer of an existing one will now need to plant 10 trees. These trees can be planted on either private or public land within the district. To validate compliance, applicants must submit geo-tagged proof of the plantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh, the official behind the initiative, clarified that this new condition will be in addition to the existing rules for obtaining arms licences. \u201cThe aim is to inspire citizens to actively contribute to environmental protection while pursuing their personal interests,\u201d Singh stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting the move, District Information Officer Prashant Suchari described it as a significant step toward creating environmental awareness. \u201cThis initiative strengthens not only administrative commitments but also reinforces the shared responsibility of citizens toward preserving the environment,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
