In a recent development on Monday, the migrants who entered the country via a Biden-era online appointment app were temporarily allowed to live in the United States have been told to leave \u201cimmediately\u201d, according to the officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homeland Security Revokes Legal Status For Thousands Of People <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, it is unclear how many beneficiaries would be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 900,000 people have been allowed in the US since January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This could only be possible with the help of the CBP One app which schedules appointments with immigration officials and applies for asylum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usually, these people were allowed to remain for two years with authorization to work under a presidential authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This period is also known as parole while they await for their cases to be heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their defence, the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s media affairs unit said \u201cCanceling these paroles is a promise kept to the American people to secure our borders and protect national security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of, authorities have confirmed that they have sent the termination notices<\/a> to CBP One beneficiaries but did not confirm the numbers yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving ahead, the people receiving the notices were urged to voluntary self-deport using the same app by which they entered, also renamed as CBP Home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one such notice, the Department of Homeland Security wrote to a Honduran family <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time for you to abandon the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, these people entered the US at the end of last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The media has received this email on Sunday while others have shared the same email on social media platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the people who received the revocation letters are from Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico, according to the Al Otro Lado, a non-profit organization that provides legal aid to migrants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discouraging Illegal Border Crossings In The Country <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the CBP One, it was a cornerstone of the Biden administration\u2019s strategy to create and expand legal pathways to enter the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also an attempt to discourage the illegal border crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost, 936,500 people had been allowed to enter with CBP One appointments at border crossings with Mexico by the end of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On his first day in office, Donald Trump ended CBP One for new entrants, this move has stranded thousands in Mexico who had appointments into early February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Homeland security revoked another form of parole for 532,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who flew to the country at their own expense with a financial sponsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This parole is meant to end on 24 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this, the Trump administration has  announced an end to temporary protected status (TPS) for 600,000 Venezuelans and about 500,00 Haitians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although it was put on hold by a federal judge temporarily, this included around 350,000 Venezuelans who had been scheduled to lose TPS on Monday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here mentioned TPS is granted in 18-month increments. It is assigned to the people who are already in the US whose countries are deemed unsafe for return due to natural disaster or civil strife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
