This revision applies to both <strong>subsidised<\/strong> and <strong>non-subsidised<\/strong> users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-5-5.jpg\" alt=\"Cooking Gas Price Hiked By Rs 50; Excise Duty On Fuel Raised By Rs 2\/Litre\" class=\"wp-image-1293246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-5-5.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-5-5-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Untitled-design-5-5-768x357.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries<\/strong>, the new price of a 14.2-kg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/industry\/news\/govt-raises-excise-duty-on-petrol-diesel-by-rs-2-after-34-months-125040701153_1.html\">LPG cylinder will be <strong>\u20b9553<\/strong> in Delhi<\/a>, up from \u20b9503.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>General category users<\/strong> will now pay <strong>\u20b9853<\/strong>, up from \u20b9803.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the first domestic LPG price revision since <strong>March 2024<\/strong>, when prices were reduced by \u20b9100. LPG prices vary across states due to differences in local taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Commercial LPG Cylinder Rates Slashed by \u20b941<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast to the domestic LPG hike, <strong>commercial LPG cylinder prices were reduced by \u20b941 last week<\/strong>. This brings some relief to businesses such as <strong>hotels, restaurants, and food vendors<\/strong>, who rely heavily on commercial gas for daily operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Excise Duty on Petrol and Diesel Increased<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government also <strong>raised excise duties on petrol and diesel by \u20b92 per litre each<\/strong>, effective <strong>April 8, 2025<\/strong>. According to the finance ministry\u2019s notification:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Petrol<\/strong> excise will increase to <strong>\u20b913 per litre<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Diesel<\/strong> excise will rise to <strong>\u20b910 per litre<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this hike will <strong>not be passed on to consumers<\/strong>. Instead, <strong>oil marketing companies (OMCs)<\/strong> will absorb the increased duty, aided by recent drops in international crude oil prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Retail Fuel Prices May Drop If Crude Trend Continues<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the excise hike, <strong>retail fuel prices could actually come down<\/strong>, said Hardeep Singh Puri. If <strong>global crude prices remain low<\/strong>, OMCs may slash prices in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government expects this duty hike to <strong>boost revenue<\/strong>, especially since the petroleum sector already contributed \u20b91.22 trillion in the first half of FY25 \u2014 nearly half the previous fiscal&#8217;s collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What It Means for Consumers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Higher cooking gas costs<\/strong> for all households<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No immediate change in petrol or diesel pump prices<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Possible fuel price cuts<\/strong> in the near future if crude oil continues to fall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The balance of tax revenue generation and consumer relief continues to shape fuel pricing policy in India.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a move that will impact households across the country, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced a \u20b950 hike in the price of domestic LPG cylinders.
