The <strong>dual-track structure<\/strong> supports semi-high-speed trains like the Vande Bharat and freight movement, future-proofing the rail corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>PM Modi also flagged off the <strong>Rameswaram\u2013Tambaram Express<\/strong> and a Coast Guard vessel during the inauguration.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vertical Lift Mechanism for Seamless Marine Traffic<\/strong><br>A standout feature is its <strong>72.5-metre central span<\/strong> that can rise <strong>17 metres vertically<\/strong>, allowing large vessels to pass\u2014a significant upgrade from the older bridge. Smaller boats can now pass even without lifting, thanks to the structure being three metres taller than its predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cultural &amp; Economic Significance<\/strong><br>During his visit, PM Modi is also scheduled to offer prayers at <strong>Ramanathaswamy Temple<\/strong> and inaugurate <strong>rail and road projects worth \u20b98,300 crore<\/strong> aimed at enhancing connectivity and economic growth across Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Union Railway Minister <strong>Ashwini Vaishnaw<\/strong> called it a tribute to <strong>Tamil heritage<\/strong>, combining tradition with cutting-edge tech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why It Matters<\/strong><br>The new Pamban Bridge is more than just infrastructure\u2014it\u2019s a <strong>symbol of progress and heritage<\/strong>.
