CM Announces Abolishment Of Maharashtra State Border Checkposts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared that all Maharashtra state border checkposts will be abolished<\/a> by April 15, 2025, while laying the foundation stone for the new Transport Commissioner’s Office, “Parivahan Bhavan,” in Worli on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, Bal Malkit Singh stated that “This long-awaited decision comes as a major relief to the transport fraternity of Maharashtra and the entire country. The Chief Minister has directed Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, MoS Transport Madhuri Mishal, ACS Transport & Ports Sanjay Sethi, and Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar to finalize the modalities to ensure the smooth implementation of this policy within the given timeline. Furthermore, he assured that BOT projects will be duly compensated by the state government.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singh said that abolishing state checkposts offers several key benefits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will help in facilitating seamless movement of goods and passengers further leading to faster transit times and improved supply chain efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this the removal of checkposts will also help in eliminating corruption and red tape by preventing unnecessary stoppages, thereby reducing harassment and delays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Boast To Economic Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this latest move, they are expecting a boost to economic growth and competitiveness, strengthening Maharashtra\u2019s position as a logistics and trade hub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this, the initiative aligns with the national policy of “One Nation, One Market,” supporting the central government’s vision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It appears that the digital and transparent tax collection is ensured through systems such as GST, E-Way Bill, VAHAN, SARATHI, and FASTag, which facilitate complete online compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bold move by the Maharashtra government  addresses a long-standing demand of the transport sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This would keep Maharashtra in line with other states that have already abolished border checkposts as many states have already implemented it including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, and Assam” further added Singh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
