He emphasized that the fare increase on some routes had <strong>more than doubled<\/strong>, impacting daily commuters. The Chief Minister stated that authorities must <strong>prioritize public interest<\/strong> and ensure fair pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Impact on Metro Ridership<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bengaluru Metro saw an <strong>8-10% drop in ridership<\/strong> after the fare hike.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On <strong>February 11<\/strong>, ridership stood at <strong>8.28 lakh<\/strong>, compared to the earlier four-Monday average of <strong>8.8 lakh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By <strong>February 13<\/strong>, ridership had fallen further to <strong>7.62 lakh<\/strong>, significantly below the <strong>8.67 lakh recorded on February 5<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Was the Hike Introduced?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the <strong>first fare revision in seven years<\/strong>. The <strong>FFC initially recommended a 105% hike<\/strong>, averaging <strong>6.87% per year<\/strong> over seven-and-a-half years. However, <strong>BMRCL had proposed a 14% annual increase before discounts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the <strong>revised fare hike is lower than initially proposed<\/strong>, Bengaluru commuters continue to express concerns over rising public transport costs.
