Maruti Suzuki appears to be developing a \u201cSeries Hybrid Technology\u201d for its mass-market offerings which is scripted to debut on the Fronx Facelift as the company informed last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maruti Fronx Boosting Strong Hybrid Engine <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of its expected launch by the year-end, the test mule of the Fronx strong hybrid recently spied testing in Gurgaon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, the car manufacturer has two strong hybrid models in its portfolio including Grand Vitara and Invicto. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both of these models make use of Toyota\u2019s series-parallel hybrid system combining both series and parallel hybrid functions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving ahead this engine can either drive the wheels directly or charge the battery, depending on the driving conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It simply means that the electric motor and engine can work independently or together, optimising efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it’s a different story for the Series Hybrid System as the engine doesn\u2019t directly drive the wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Range Extender Hybrid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This system solely works as a generator to charge the battery to provide power to the electric motor, which is actually the only source of propulsion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also known as the \u201cRange Extender Hybrid\u201d as it can potentially improve fuel efficiency, especially in city usage, and reduce emissions compared to traditional ICE vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly<\/a>, Maruti Suzuki is planning to use the brand\u2019s latest 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z12E engine with its series hybrid system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides the Fronx, you can also witness this new hybrid setup to power the new Baleno, a Spacia-based MPV (codenamed YDB), and Swift. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this, Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce a three-row version of the Grand Vitara (codenamed Y17).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, the company has planned to continue with Toyota\u2019s more advanced series-parallel hybrid system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking about the upcoming Maruti Fronx Hybrid, it is expected to boast a few cosmetic changes over the ongoing model along with a few new features. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, it is expected to claim a fuel efficiency of around 35-40 kmpl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Maruti Suzuki was in news as the brand is all set to launch its first all-electric offering, the eVitara, in March 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This launch holds a great significance as it offers extended powertrain options, including petrol, CNG, mild-hybrid, strong-hybrid and electric, thus catering to a wide section of the audience focused on fuel efficiency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
