The much anticipated Zomato year-end report<\/a> for 2024 finally got unveiled while offering a glimpse into the evolving food habits of Indians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This report reveals that biryani remains the top dish for the eighth consecutive year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, pizza has traditionally held a strong position although it has witnessed a noticeable decline in orders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s take a look at some of the standout insights from this year\u2019s findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuing its reign, Biryani remains as the undisputed favourite with over nine crore orders in 2024 on Zomato. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it can not be denied that there was a dip in sales compared to the previous year despite the massive volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Zomato recorded a staggering 10,09,80,615 biryani orders during 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This number appears to have dropped to 9,13,99,110 in 2024 marking a decrease of almost 95 lakh orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it still remains to be favorite with Zomato receiving over three biryani orders per second, while Swiggy received two per second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decline In Pizza Orders<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far,  pizza is considered to be a staple of Indian food culture, but it didn’t fare as well this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 It has witnessed a drop with the number of pizza orders on Zomato fell from 7,45,30,036 in 2023 to 5,84,46,908 in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This indicates a significant drop of over 20 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Zomato is not the only platform keeping track of food trends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As this news comes from Swiggy as its data revealed that dosa took over the second spot of the most-ordered dish in 2024, with a whopping 2.3 crore orders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This basically indicates the growing appetite for traditional, comfort foods alongwith the usual fast-food favourites like pizza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this, Zomato has some other amusing stories too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, one of customer ordered 120 manchurian combos to feed an entire train bogey! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other jaw-dropping story comes from Bengaluru, where a foodie spent over Rs 5 lakh on a single dining experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
