Google has formed a strategic partnership with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to improve access to quality education throughout India. The collaboration is designed to empower students, teachers, and parents by offering engaging and accessible educational content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Google blog post, Jonathan Katzman, Director of Product Management for YouTube Learning, stated<\/a>, \u201cLearning has always been central to YouTube. In India, where accessible education is key to unlocking the nation’s potential, YouTube can play a crucial role in making learning content more accessible through innovative partnerships, tools, and resources.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this initiative, NCERT plans to launch several YouTube channels in the coming months, covering grades 1 to 12. These channels will provide educational content in 29 Indian languages, including Indian Sign Language, ensuring that learning is accessible to a wide variety of learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google and NPTEL Launch Courses on YouTube with AI-Powered Learning Features<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google has also teamed up with the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) to introduce credentialed courses on YouTube. This partnership allows learners to access courses across diverse subjects, ranging from pure sciences to rocket propulsion and sports psychology. Katzman explained, \u201cThis initiative creates a pathway for anyone outside the IIT system to take courses on NPTEL\u2019s YouTube channels, complete the certification on the NPTEL-SWAYAM portal, and receive a certificate from the IITs.\u201d He further mentioned that more courses would be launched in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katzman explained, “By using AI, we identify the concepts presented in a video and provide definitions from the web for those concepts, spanning subjects like biology, physics, and chemistry. We pull definitions and images from Google\u2019s Knowledge Graph, relying on the video’s transcript and other related metadata.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
