By July, this number surged to 1.5 million and peaked at 2.1 million in August. Although the numbers dipped in subsequent months\u20141.1 million in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.financialexpress.com\/life\/technology-over-5-million-users-port-to-bsnl-after-jio-airtel-tariff-hikes-3684843\/#:~:text=Bharat%20Sanchar%20Nigam%20Limited%20(BSNL,their%20tariffs%20in%20June%202024\">September and 0.7 million in October<\/a>\u2014BSNL has demonstrated its ability to attract cost-conscious consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Decline in Customer Port-Outs Strengthens BSNL\u2019s Position<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BSNL\u2019s efforts to retain its customers are also yielding results. The number of users porting out from BSNL has declined significantly. From 0.4 million in June, the figure dropped to 0.31 million in July and reached its lowest at 0.26 million in August. Although there was a slight increase to 0.51 million in October, the overall trend indicates improved customer satisfaction and loyalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Broadband Challenges Amidst Mobile Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While BSNL is making strides in mobile services, its broadband segment faces hurdles. According to a report by TelecomTalk, BSNL\u2019s Wi-Fi subscriber base dropped from 10,92,650 in FY 2020 to 4,06,600 by March 31, 2024. Similarly, its wireline broadband market share, though at 16.61% in September 2024, remains significantly lower than Jio\u2019s 40.61% and Airtel\u2019s 25.24%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Impact of Tariff Hikes on Private Operators<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BSNL\u2019s growth comes at a time when private telecom operators are experiencing subscriber losses. TRAI data reveals that in September 2024 alone, Jio lost 7.9 million users, Vodafone Idea lost 1.5 million, and Airtel lost 1.4 million. This mass migration underscores the impact of tariff hikes on consumer behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As BSNL navigates a competitive telecom market, its ability to offer affordable, quality services is proving crucial.
