As we know, the construction of India\u2019s longest expressway which is meant to connect Delhi and Mumbai, has garnered significant attention so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And why not, considering its scale and importance to the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction Of The Second-Longest Expressway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, another infrastructure project is quietly taking shape which is going to be the second-longest expressway in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, we are talking about the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway, which is designed to link two major cities presently separated by vast stretches of desert, reportedly<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After becoming fully operational, the Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway is claimed to significantly reduce travel time between these key commercial cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative will not only help in cutting travel costs, but will enhance connectivity between the two cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the area, it will be spanning 1,316 km from Amritsar in Punjab to Jamnagar in Gujarat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This expressway would provide a faster and more efficient route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is not much difference in length as it is slightly shorter than the 1,350 km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Does This Help?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It appears that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already made considerable progress on the project and its completion is expected by December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is expected that this new expressway will boost trade and also help in facilitating economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this, it will also improve transportation for both passengers and goods across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In simple words, the construction of the new expressway will significantly reduce the travel time between the two major states in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, the distance between Amritsar and Jamnagar is 1,516 km, which takes approximately 26 hours to cover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The distance will be reduced by 216 km, bringing the total distance to 1,300 km, after construction of this new expressway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This travel time will almost reduced to the half of the current travel time as the <\/p>\n\n\n\n

reduction in distance, coupled with faster road conditions and improved infrastructure, will allow travelers to complete the journey in just 13 hours, effectively halving the travel time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
