As per media reports, Blinkit is reportedly developing a new category of high-value items that will be delivered in 30 minutes. The Zomato-owned quick commerce platform, which has made its name for its famous 10-minute grocery deliveries, is now looking to diversify into new domains to help increase its profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinkit Plans ‘Express Dark Stores’ for 30-Minute Delivery of High-Value Items<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the reports, the sources who are privy to these developments said that the company is already gearing up to establish \u2018express dark stores\u2019 <\/a>which will be used to deliver products like instant water heaters, jewellery, air purifier, and other high-value goods in 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision to introduce the same came after the company trying to diversify their business as the market matures and look for more avenues to enhance their margins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the moment, Blinkit follows the standard 10-minute deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the uninitiated, dark stores are becoming the heart for quick commerce operations. Typically 3,000 to 4,000 square feet in size, these warehouses help the companies make their deliveries in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the express dark stores of Blinkit shall be a tad bigger, or should we say a lot bigger, ranging nearly 7,000 to 8,000 square feet in size, helping in storing larger products that need more space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinkit Targets Higher AOV with New High-Value Item Offerings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per sources, the company is planning to compete with likes of Flipkart and Amazon by increasing the company\u2019s average order value (AOV) by selling high value items. Reports suggest that the work has already started and the company plans to go live with the offering sometime mid of next financial year (FY26).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who are new to the concept of AOV, then AOV is basically an indicator of the profit of the quick commerce players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Rs 614, Blinkit already has one of highest AOVs in the rapid delivery market. On the other hand, Swiggy Instamart and Zepto have AOVs in the Rs 450-480 range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, this won\u2019t be the first time in India that any company that is in rapid delivery has looked for avenues to diversify their domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tata\u2019s BigBasket is also considering diving into the 30-minute delivery space. However, Blinkit will be amongst the first to venture into the industry so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
