In contrast, Goa received the smallest share of \u20b9688 crore. Below is the list of state-wise distribution of tax revenue:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Uttar Pradesh<\/strong>: \u20b931,962 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Goa<\/strong>: \u20b9688 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Andhra Pradesh<\/strong>: \u20b97,211 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Karnataka<\/strong>: \u20b96,498 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kerala<\/strong>: \u20b93,430 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tamil Nadu<\/strong>: \u20b97,268 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Telangana<\/strong>: \u20b93,745 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bihar<\/strong>: \u20b917,921 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Madhya Pradesh<\/strong>: \u20b913,987 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>West Bengal<\/strong>: \u20b913,404 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maharashtra<\/strong>: \u20b911,255 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rajasthan<\/strong>: \u20b910,737 crore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, Uttar Pradesh alone received more funds than all five South Indian states combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concerns from South Indian States<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Several South Indian states, including Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, have voiced concerns about the allocation of tax devolution. They argue that the current distribution is skewed in favor of Northern states like Uttar Pradesh. This discrepancy has led to renewed calls for a more equitable approach to fiscal federalism, with southern states contributing significantly to the nation&#8217;s revenue pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Call for Recalibrating Fiscal Federalism<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2024, Kerala hosted a high-profile conclave addressing the need for reforms in India\u2019s fiscal federalism. Participants emphasized the growing economic disparity between states and advocated for a redistribution model that rewards state performance and upholds fiscal autonomy.
