The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has accused the Karnataka State Labour Department of being biased and taking biased action on its complaint regarding delay in on boarding of more than 2,000 campus hires by Infosys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The union has also written to the Centre charging the Karnataka government of falsely claiming \u2018lack of information\u2019 from NITES on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter sent to the Union Government read \u201cThe PDF document sent to the Karnataka State Labour Ministry clearly outlines the specific cases of numerous graduates who have still not received their joining dates from Infosys, despite<\/a><\/em> being offered employment. Despite providing detailed evidence, they have failed to address the concerns of these graduates in a transparent and effective manner\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the month of September, the Union Labour Ministry directed the Karnataka Labour Department to look into the alleged \u2018exploitation of young IT graduates\u2019 by the Bengaluru-based IT giant Infosys, after a complaint from NITES made in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bengaluru-based IT giant, in a response to the state labour ministry on the enquiry, claimed that the allegations, made by the union, are \u2018patently false\u2019 and that the graduates have already received the joining dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Misrepresentation in Infosys Onboarding Delays<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Pune based IT union also claimed that the labour department of Karnataka has intentionally misrepresented facts and has failed to act impartially in this matter stating that it was done to \u2018shield Infosys from accountability\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the letter, they added that \u201cWe have urged the central government\u2019s Ministry of Labour and Employment again to intervene and conduct an impartial investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served and the remaining graduates receive their rightful joining dates\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it happened, pursuant to Centre asking the state department to look into the matter, Infosys issued around 2,000 offer letters a month back, with the confirmed joining date in October 2024. However, the remaining 500 are yet to receive a confirmation, as reported by DH last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This issue wherein the candidates that were promised jobs but not on boarded dates back to 2022 and for the same they approached NITES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the reports, not just delay in joining, but the IT giant Infosys also asked several candidates to take unpaid pre-training sessions as well as assessments for four weeks in July and six weeks in August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
