{"id":1285780,"date":"2024-09-28T18:20:25","date_gmt":"2024-09-28T12:50:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1285780"},"modified":"2024-09-28T18:20:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-28T12:50:44","slug":"rs-18066-is-the-minimum-wage-in-delhi-117-higher-than-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/rs-18066-is-the-minimum-wage-in-delhi-117-higher-than-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Rs 18,066 Is The Minimum Wage In Delhi, 117% Higher Than UP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Delhi government has increased the minimum wages for unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers, further solidifying its position as offering the highest minimum wage in the country. <strong>Unskilled workers<\/strong> will now earn Rs 18,066, up from the previous Rs 17,494. <strong>Semi-skilled workers<\/strong> will receive Rs 19,929 (up from Rs 19,279), and <strong>skilled workers<\/strong> will see their wages rise to Rs 21,917 (from Rs 21,215).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Untitled-design-25-1-1280x720-1-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Rs 18,066 Is The Minimum Wage In Delhi, 117% Higher Than UP\" class=\"wp-image-1285784\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Untitled-design-25-1-1280x720-1-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Untitled-design-25-1-1280x720-1-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Untitled-design-25-1-1280x720-1-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Untitled-design-25-1-1280x720-1-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Announcing the changes, <strong>Delhi CM Atishi<\/strong> stated that the new rates will come into effect starting <strong>October 1<\/strong>. &#8220;Delhi has the highest minimum wage in the entire country,&#8221; Atishi remarked, comparing the wages to those in <strong>BJP-ruled states<\/strong>, where the minimum wage for unskilled workers is significantly lower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comparisons with BJP-Ruled States<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During her announcement, Atishi highlighted that the minimum wage for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newindianexpress.com\/cities\/delhi\/2024\/Sep\/26\/delhi-govt-hikes-minimum-wage-for-labourers-new-rates-from-october-1#:~:text=Delhi%20has%20the%20highest%20minimum,CM%20Atishi%20said%20on%20Wednesday.\">unskilled workers in <strong>Delhi<\/strong> exceeds Rs 18,000<\/a>, while in other states like <strong>Rajasthan<\/strong>, it is just Rs 8,063, and <strong>Madhya Pradesh<\/strong> pays Rs 10,000. <strong>Uttar Pradesh<\/strong> offers Rs 8,300, <strong>Haryana<\/strong> Rs 10,000, and <strong>Chhattisgarh<\/strong> Rs 10,900 for unskilled workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Atishi<\/strong> took the opportunity to draw contrasts, asserting that while other states fall short, <strong>Arvind Kejriwal\u2019s government<\/strong> is consistently focused on improving the living conditions of the common people in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Decade of AAP&#8217;s Focus on Welfare<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Atishi pointed out that over the last 10 years, the <strong>AAP-ruled government<\/strong> has implemented various initiatives aimed at benefiting ordinary Delhiites. These include 24-hour electricity, some of the <strong>cheapest electricity rates<\/strong> in the country, <strong>excellent government schools<\/strong>, <strong>free medical tests and medicines<\/strong> in <strong>Mohalla Clinics<\/strong>, <strong>world-class hospitals<\/strong>, free pilgrimage trips for the elderly, and free bus travel for women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She further shared that the <strong>AAP government<\/strong> succeeded in linking minimum wage increases to the <strong>dearness allowance (DA)<\/strong>, ensuring wages rise twice a year, just like government employees\u2019 salaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opposition from BJP and Legal Battle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Atishi, the <strong>BJP<\/strong> strongly opposed the wage increase. However, the <strong>AAP government<\/strong>, under <strong>Arvind Kejriwal<\/strong>, fought and secured a court order in favor of the wage hikes. This victory has allowed the government to continue its work in improving the lives of Delhi&#8217;s common people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pending CAG Reports to Be Tabled in Assembly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Separately, the <strong>L-G Secretariat<\/strong> has written to Delhi\u2019s Chief Secretary Dharmendra and Finance Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma, instructing them to table over <strong>12 pending CAG reports<\/strong> during the Delhi Assembly session on September 26-27.
