This would be its second satellite port which it would be building with an estimated cost of over Rs 20,000 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"530\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-29-at-2.23.37\u202fPM-1024x530.png\" alt=\"Kandla Port Will Become India's 1st Mega Port With 267 Million Tonnes Capacity By 2030\" class=\"wp-image-1285831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-29-at-2.23.37\u202fPM-1024x530.png 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-29-at-2.23.37\u202fPM-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-29-at-2.23.37\u202fPM-768x398.png 768w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-29-at-2.23.37\u202fPM-1536x795.png 1536w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Screenshot-2024-09-29-at-2.23.37\u202fPM-2048x1060.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, Tuna-Tekra is a satellite port located some <a href=\"https:\/\/infra.economictimes.indiatimes.com\/amp\/news\/ports-shipping\/deendayal-port-authority-floats-plan-to-build-a-second-satellite-facility-costing-rs-20000-crore\/113582741\">15 kms away from Kandla<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deendayal Port Authority Proposes Rs 20,000 Crore Satellite Port Between Tuna-Tekra and Kandla Creek<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nandeesh Shukla, Deputy Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority told in an interview, which highlighting that the plan is in the \u201cfirst proposal stage\u201d only, said that \u201cWe have recently moved a proposal to develop a satellite port on a patch of land between the Adani bulk terminal at Tuna-Tekra and Kandla Creek\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that \u201cThere is no detailed project report yet for the proposed satellite port. We have to see the feasibility and the cost. But this is what we are thinking, and this is as per our master plan\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that \u201cWe have sent the first proposal to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and if the Ministry concurs, we will go ahead with it. We estimate the investment will be upwards of Rs20,000 crores on the part of the port authority\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the light of ambitious target set under the Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, the Deputy Chairman said that the port authority wants more cargo handling facilities to come up, saying that \u201cWe have to make good of it\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd is running a dry bulk terminal at Tuna-Tekra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dubai government-owned global port operator DP World Ltd is constructing a 2.19 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) capacity terminal estimated to cost Rs 4,243.64 crore at the satellite port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A tender shall be floated by the port authority to build a multipurpose cargo berth at Tuna-Tekra with private funds of Rs 1,719.22 crore upon securing government approval to restructure the project terms after two earlier unsuccessful attempts, said the official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kandla Port Set to Become India&#8217;s First Mega Port, aiming to Double Cargo Capacity by 2030<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kandla port, which is now being primed to be one of the first ports to become a mega port in the country, started operations in year 1931 with just 2 jetties and scanty infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India\u2019s second biggest state-owned port by volumes handled, Deendayal Port Authority, has a capacity to load 269.10 million tonnes (mt) of cargo a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In FY24, Deendayal Port Authority handled 132.3 million tonnes (mt) of cargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By year 2030, at an annual growth rate of 10%, the port is expected to double its cargo to 267 million tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The port of Kandla serves the Northern India hinterland, including the land-locked states of NCR Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindubusinessline.com\/economy\/logistics\/mundra-kandla-and-jnpa-ports-likely-to-be-part-of-india-middle-east-europe-economic-corridor\/article67362188.ece\">Image Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As per a top official, the state-owned Deendayal Port Authority has floated a plan to build a satellite port on a patch of land between the bulk cargo terminal run by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd at Tuna-Tekra and Kandle Creek.
