Soon, the central business district in Mumbai, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) will experience the London-style pod taxis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>London\u2019s Pod Taxis Coming To BKC Soon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ify-4-1.png\" alt=\"Pod Taxis From London Will Be Launched In Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai\" class=\"wp-image-1285167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ify-4-1.png 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ify-4-1-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ify-4-1-768x357.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears that Sai Green Mobility will be developing bite-sized taxis along with Ultra PRT, the main pod taxi developers at Heathrow Airport in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This system will have 21 vehicles covering a 3.9-kilometer route, connecting Bandra and Kurla Railway stations to its BKC car parks, reportedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, this project was sanctioned during March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahead of the official announcement Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) conducted a techno-economic feasibility study to understand the topography to battle the growing traffic issues at BKC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have also finalized the fare for the pod taxi services&nbsp; through the surveys conducted among auto and bus users, as per the media <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/travel\/destinations\/londons-pod-taxis-make-their-way-into-mumbais-bkc-19472153.htm\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we compare this to the current scenario, presently,&nbsp; commuters pay Rs 15.33 per km for metered auto rides and \u20b930 to \u20b940 per passenger in shared autos to reach BKC from Bandra or Kurla.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand taxi users pay Rs 18.67 per km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, Ola and Uber drivers often apply dynamic pricing, charging between \u20b980 to \u20b9100 for short trips of 2-3 km from stations to BKC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Significant Step Towards Enhancing Urban Mobility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pod taxi system will serve as a model for future urban transport projects across India, ensuring sustainable and efficient mobility for our citizens, said Eknath Shinde, the&nbsp; Chief Minister and MMRDA chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Pod Taxi project in BKC marks a significant step towards enhancing urban mobility in one of Mumbai\u2019s busiest business districts. This system will not only improve last-mile connectivity but also reduce congestion and provide a modern, efficient mode of transportation for daily commuters,&#8221; stated Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, MMRDA metropolitan commissioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to BKC, this place is known for corporate the affairs, however lately it has also become a hotspot for leisure and entertainment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we already know that NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre) and Jio World Drive offer diverse activities here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, the pod taxi will definitely add to the experience for the travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ebnw.net\/news\/mumbai-to-get-london-style-pod-taxis-on-bkc-streets-a-game-changer-in-urban-mobility\/\">Image Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes you heard it right!
