What is SearchGPT and how it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SearchGPT is a prototype search feature designed for ChatGPT. Its task is similarly to traditional search engines but it uses AI models to filter relevant sources, making it faster and more organized in delivering desired information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SearchGPT merges the conversational capabilities of OpenAI\u2019s AI models with real-time web information retrieval. Unlike conventional search engines that display a list of links, SearchGPT organizes results and shows them in a conventional manner. For example, when asked about the best tomatoes to grow in Minnesota, SearchGPT gives a detailed explanation along with features of recommended varieties, with hyperlinks to the original sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The feature also allows users to ask follow-up questions, maintaining the context of the conversation. For instance, if a user asks which tomato varieties can be planted presently, SearchGPT understands the seasonal context and provides relevant information. Furthermore, a sidebar presents more search results with relevant source links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SearchGPT: Availability and SearchGPT: Alternatives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SearchGPT is presently in its testing phase, accessible only to select users as a prototype. OpenAI plans to combine it directly into ChatGPT in the future. Concerned users can join a waitlist at chatgpt.com\/search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perplexity, a US-based startup, provides similar functionality through its AI chatbot-powered research and conversational search engine, Perplexity AI. It offers relevant descriptions and references from different web sources for every query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google Integrates AI into Search with AI Overviews at Google I\/O<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google is also integrating AI into its search results. During its once a year developers conference, Google I\/O, the company introduced AI Overviews as part of its Search Generative Experience (SGE).
