SMS Only Pack Without Internet Can Make A Comeback\" class=\"wp-image-1283856\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Untitled-design-3-12-1-1.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Untitled-design-3-12-1-1-300x140.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Untitled-design-3-12-1-1-768x357.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Consultation Paper Highlighting The Concerns About Bundled Tariffs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Consultation Paper, input from stakeholders is released on \u201cReview of Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation (TCPR), 2012\u201d for consultation with the stakeholders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This consultation paper has highlighted the concerns about bundled tariffs further proposing separate voice and SMS packs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving ahead, this consultation paper aims to seek views on bringing back the voice and SMS- only packs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bundled Tariffs Constraining Subscribers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further adding that the current offerings may be forcing many phone subscribers to pay for services they don\u2019t use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/technology\/tech-news\/trai-proposes-return-of-voice-and-sms-only-packs-what-it-may-mean-for-users\/articleshow\/112059292.cms\">Telecom Regulatory Authority of India<\/a> (Trai) said, \u201c&#8230;it is noticed that tariff offers available in market are broadly bundled tariff offerings having mix of voice, data, SMS and OTT services, etc., which may not fulfill the requirements of a large number of subscribers as all services may not be required by all subscribers and there is a perception that subscribers are being made to pay for services that are not required by them,\u201d in the consultation paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBesides, there is a perception among consumers that the bundled offerings of telecom services act as a constraint on the choice of subscription of telecom tariff offers by the subscribers,\u201d as per the consultation paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to this, TRAI is also considering the request of the telecom industry to propose the issue of \u201ccolor coding of vouchers\u201d and \u201cdenomination vouchers\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears that the telecom service providers used different color coding for paper plans such as green for top-up, blue for combo, more previously.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TRAI has asked whether color coding could be relevant in digital mediums as well in its consultation paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to TRAI, the written comments on the consultation Paper are invited from the stakeholders by 16th August 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, the counter comments that come, if any, may be submitted by 23rd August 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, TRAI released a consultation paper, in which they reviewed the 2012 Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation.\u00a0 Consultation Paper Highlighting The Concerns About Bundled Tariffs In a Consultation Paper, input from stakeholders is released on \u201cReview of Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation (TCPR), 2012\u201d for consultation with the stakeholders.&nbsp;
