Latest reports have revealed that, Jio has topped the race in the telecom sector, surpassing both Vi and Airtel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jio Surpasses Vi and Airtel To Become Top Telecom Company<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the data by TRAI, the number of telecom subscribers in India has surpassed 1.2 billion for the second time<\/a>, with Reliance Jio holding the top spot in terms of both total customers and new additions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1,199.28 million in March 2024 to 1,201.22 million at the end of April 2024, the telecom customer base grew by 0.16%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May 2017, the total number of subscribers crossed the 1.2 billion mark, and in July 2017, it reached a record 1.21 billion. With 1,165.49 million subscribers as of April 2024, wireless users make up the majority of all subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reliance Jio now has 472.42 million customers overall after adding 2.68 million net new users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2024, Bharti Airtel had 267.57 million subscribers, an increase of 752,000 users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growth Rate of Wireless Market Slowed By Losses of 1.23 Million Users for BSNL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The growth rate of the wireless market was slowed by the losses of 1.23 million users for state-owned BSNL and 735 thousand subscribers for Vodafone Idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, Reliance Communications lost 29 cellular customers while MTNL lost 3,702 wireless users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 33.79 million in March to 34.26 million in April, there were more wireline subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wireline segment increase was led by Reliance Jio, which brought on 355,9 thousand new users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

118.8 thousand new landline customers were added by Bharti Airtel, 38,580 by Tata Teleservices, 8,152 by Vodafone Idea, 2,950 by Quadrant, and 774 by Reliance Communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reliance Industries\u2019 Jio Platforms has made a significant stride in the race to provide satellite internet in India. A joint venture between Jio Platforms and Luxembourg-based SES has received crucial approvals from the Indian space regulator to operate satellites, marking a key milestone in their efforts to offer gigabit fiber internet services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The approval was granted to Orbit Connect India, a subsidiary aiming to provide high-speed satellite-based internet access.
