As per a latest report, TCS is having difficulty filling 80,000 unfilled posts as a result of a skills gap.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 80,000 unfilled positions at TCS, which reflect a mismatch between the skills of present employees and the tasks needed, have led to a reliance on contractors to cover these gaps, according to Amar Shetye, worldwide operations head of TCS’s Resource Management Group (RMG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TCS Facing Difficulty Filling 80,000 Positions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was reported by an unidentified employee that the project requirements do not align with the skillsets or objectives of the employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There have been reports of delays in Indian IT majors’ onboarding of freshers, notably TCS, leaving many without fixed joining dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the NITES, nearly 10,000 freshmen have been impacted by these delays during the previous two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja, complaints have been received from applicants who were offered positions at prestigious IT firms including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Zensar, and LTIMindtree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infosys has notified candidates via email that the exact date of starting will depend on company needs, and that notice will be given at least three to four weeks in advance. In the fiscal year 2023\u20132024, Infosys hired just 11,900 college recruits, a 76% drop from the 50,000 hired the year before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wipro, Zensar Unable To Fulfill Campus Offers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Wipro CHRO Saurabh Govil, campus offers from two years ago have not been fulfilled by the company. This was mentioned in a recent earnings call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zensar had previously asked candidates to affirm their continued interest despite delays, and in April, the company invited them to complete a test in order to be considered for onboarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delay in onboarding has been linked to business uncertainty in North America and Europe, as businesses are wary of spending money on IT in the face of slowing indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quarterly data from IT corporations have suggested a severe downturn in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a projection made by Krishna Vij, business head of IT staffing at TeamLease, 3-5% of recent graduates employed by leading IT services firms in 2022 are still awaiting onboarding because of concerns about project visibility and a focus on necessary skill sets and preparation for the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), the government reportedly wants to collaborate with IT behemoths like TCS, HCL, and Tech Mahindra to create software for quantum technologies in order to advance quantum technology research in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combined headcount of TCS, Infosys, and Wipro fell by around 64,000 in the fiscal year 2023\u201324 as a result of these companies’ overhiring during the epidemic and subsequent shift in emphasis toward productivity without adding more employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
