In a strange and disturbing news coming from Chennai, a 32-year-old woman doctor who was undergoing training at the Institute of Mental Health in Chennai is suspected to have died of electrocution at her hostel room in Ayanavaram on Sunday night due to a faulty<\/a> cable while charging her laptop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woman Found Unconscious in Hotel Room, Declared Dead Upon Arrival at Hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This issue was reported after calls from her husband went unanswered. Once this happened, the husband checked with the hotel authorities who then later checked on her and found her unconscious in the room, upon which she was rushed to hospital wherein she was declared dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An inquiry is ongoing for the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the Ayanavaram police, Dr U Saranidhi was a native of Namakkal district and had completed her MD in Psychiatry at Coimbatore medical college. She was living in Coimbatore with her husband Dr Udhayakumar and their five-year old child. Udhyakumar works at Coimbatore ESI hospital. Saranidhi had come to Chennai on May 1 to attend a 25-day training course at the Institute of Mental Health in Kilpauk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the police source, she was staying at a private hostel in Ayanavaram and as per one of the source \u201cOn Sunday, Udhayakumar tried to contact Saranidhi but his calls were not answered. After trying for some time, Udhayakumar contacted the hostel staff. When a staff member went and checked on her, she was found lying unconscious on the floor. The staff immediately alerted the Ayanavaram police.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electrocution Suspected: Woman Found Dead in Hotel Room with Laptop Charging Cable<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When police entered her room, she was seen lying next to the charging cable of her laptop which was connected to an extension box. Her mobile phone, her laptop, and an air cooler were connected to the extension box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was rushed to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital wherein she was declared dead and her body was then sent for post-mortem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A case has been registered under Section 174 (unnatural death) of IPC and an inquiry is on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A senior police officer said \u201cWe checked Saranidhi\u2019s laptop charging cable and it was found to be slightly damaged. We suspect that she may have got electrocuted while charging her laptop. There were also burn injuries in her palm which indicated possible electrocution\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
