Previously, users had to wait for one app to finish downloading before initiating the installation process for another. With this update, users can now install multiple apps concurrently, streamlining the process and reducing wait times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To observe this feature in action, users can install two apps simultaneously, such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The apps will download and install concurrently, with progress visible both within the Play Store interface and on the device’s home screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Limitations and Comparisons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This updated behavior currently only applies to new app installations and is limited to two apps at a time. By comparison, the iOS App Store supports up to three concurrent downloads and installs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of now, simultaneous downloads do not extend to application updates, a feature that would be particularly beneficial given the frequency of updates. However, it is hoped that this limitation will be addressed in future updates as Google Play continues to evolve and expand its capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
