{"id":1280382,"date":"2024-03-29T07:28:10","date_gmt":"2024-03-29T01:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1280382"},"modified":"2024-03-29T07:28:30","modified_gmt":"2024-03-29T01:58:30","slug":"big-update-for-insurance-policy-holders-from-april-1-surrender-value-will-decrease-if","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/big-update-for-insurance-policy-holders-from-april-1-surrender-value-will-decrease-if\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Update For Insurance Policy Holders From April 1: Surrender Value Will Decrease If.."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recently, a set of new regulations in relation to the surrender value of insurance policies was released by the\u00a0 Insurance regulator Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Untitled-design-5-8-1280x720-1024x576-1.jpg\" alt=\"Big Update For Insurance Policy Holders From April 1: Surrender Value Will Decrease If..\" class=\"wp-image-1280391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Untitled-design-5-8-1280x720-1024x576-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Untitled-design-5-8-1280x720-1024x576-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Untitled-design-5-8-1280x720-1024x576-1-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IRDAI Released New Guidelines For Insurance Policies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reportedly, this new set of rules is scheduled to come into effect from the next financial year which is April 1, 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The surrender values for life insurance policies are set to decrease if the policies are surrendered within three years of timeline, as per the latest guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Howere, the rules are different if the policyholder surrenders the policy between fourth and seventh year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest guidelines <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/insurance\/insurance-irdai-guidelines-on-new-surrender-value-rules-to-come-into-effect-on-april-1-details-here-11711542579616.html\">released<\/a> by IRDAI suggest that in the above case, it would lead to an increase in the surrender value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IRDAI\u2019s Latest Guidelines For Insurance Policies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As per these rules, if policy is surrendered during the second year, a total of 30 percent of total premiums would be paid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In case if the policy is surrendered during the third year then 35 percent of total premiums stand to get paid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the policyholder surrenders the policy between the fourth and seventh year then a total of 50 percent of total premiums would be paid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When policy is surrendered during the last two years then 90 percent of total premiums would get paid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note here for non-single premium life insurance policies, a guaranteed surrender value will be given after the payment of insurance premiums for a minimum of two years in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Does This Help?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These steps will act as a booster for the insurance sector, said Adhil Shetty While talking about these regulations, the CEO, Bankbazaar.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further adding, \u201cThese newly-instituted regulations are designed to foster good governance pertaining to pricing mechanisms and to ensure the provision of guaranteed surrender value, coupled with comprehensive disclosures to policyholders.
