{"id":1278624,"date":"2024-02-05T16:34:17","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T11:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1278624"},"modified":"2024-02-05T16:34:37","modified_gmt":"2024-02-05T11:04:37","slug":"volkswagen-will-launch-mass-market-electric-car-in-india-skoda-electric-suv-launching-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/volkswagen-will-launch-mass-market-electric-car-in-india-skoda-electric-suv-launching-in-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Volkswagen Will Launch Mass Market Electric Car In India; Skoda Electric SUV Launching IN 2026?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/gaadiwaadi.com\/entry-level-mass-market-volkswagen-ev-confirmed-new-details\/\">update<\/a>, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India is in the process of developing an affordable EV which is mainly focused for the domestic market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ify-15.png\" alt=\"Volkswagen Will Launch Mass Market Electric Car In India; Skoda Electric SUV Launching IN 2026?\" class=\"wp-image-1278625\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ify-15.png 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ify-15-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/ify-15-768x357.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Volkswagen Entry Level EV Confirmed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving ahead, the car manufacturer is planning to further&nbsp; export it to the global markets once it is launched in the second half of this decade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Piyush Arora gave this information during the sidelines of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, he said, \u201cthe electrification strategy won\u2019t drastically vary compared to the strategy followed for IC-engined cars and the forthcoming entry-level volume focussed zero-emission vehicle will be heavily localized.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Need Of Huge Investment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is noteworthy here that a huge investment is required to achieve this goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering the same, the brand seems to be seriously evaluating the opportunities presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is anticipated that the investment will be in triple-digit million euros as Mr Arora emphasizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also indicates the importance of the Indian market for the brand\u2019s global volumes along with exports.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At present, the feasibility study for such a product is underway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volkswagen\u2019s Peak EV project will spawn an electrified SUV in India by 2026, as per the media <a href=\"https:\/\/gaadiwaadi.com\/entry-level-mass-market-volkswagen-ev-confirmed-new-details\/\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SUV will be developed on the MEB21G platform while having high local content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this lineup, the key area of focus will be the entry-level and mid-size categories.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to the launch date, the e-SUV will be introduced by Volkswagen first before the arrival of its Skoda derivative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of volumes, it will have an estimated volume target of 50,000 for local and international markets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Czech automaker seems to be mulling over localizing the MQB A0 37 architecture as it wants to boost the premium offerings, packed with high-end technologies for India.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides these, there is a compact SUV underpinned by the MQB A0 IN platform found in the Kushaq and Slavia, is in the pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coming to production, a total of 16 lakh units were produced and 6 lakhs were shipped to the global arena last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime the brand is seeking ways to begin the exports of Slavia and Kushaq to Vietnam and more markets are also being studied for selling made-in-India products, Arora stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering these developments, both Volkswagen and Skoda are anticipated to play a vital role in the transition towards electrification as their respective first EVs for India will be launched this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/europe.autonews.com\/automakers\/vw-defends-launch-high-priced-mass-market-ev\">Image Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent update, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India is in the process of developing an affordable EV which is mainly focused for the domestic market.
