Spanning 4 city blocks, the world\u2019s largest cruise ship \u201cIcon of the Seas” was inaugurated on the Port of Miami on 27th<\/sup> Jan. This mammoth vessel, made by Royal Caribbean, worlds’ 2nd<\/sup> largest cruise line operator, is almost 1,200 feet (365 meters) long from bow to stern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ship was christened on Tuesday in a ceremony which was also attended by football star Lionel Messi as well as Inter Miami teammates. The ship shall set sail for a 7-day tropical island hopping adventure from South Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A project which costed Royal Caribbean $2 billion<\/a>, Icon of the Seas symbolizes more than 50 years of innovation by the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Integrated with cutting-edge technology with an emphasis on environmental responsibility, this ships claims to more environmentally friendly than some of the other smaller cruise ships, despite its size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ship is plonked with six dual-fuel engines which can run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This furthers its claim of reducing sulphur as well as the Greenhouse gases (aka GHGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of the amenities, the \u201cIcon\u201d includes six waterslides, seven swimming pools, an ice skating rink, a theatre, and over 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized into eight neighbourhoods across 20 decks, with an aim to redefine multigenerational family vacations, this ship can accommodate 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Significant Milestone in Cruise Travel Evolution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Royal Caribbean group said that it scrutinizing every single kilowatt that is being consumed by the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surpassing the height of Eiffel Tower, this beautiful tapestry of craft and engineering was built in a span of 900 days in Turku, Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its size is a testimony to the marvel that it is. The ship can be of a lifetime experience. For connoisseurs, it has a great entertainment line up since it would feature 50 musicians and comedians, along with a 16-piece orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though the verdict of the passengers is the one that either put it on pedestal or put it back to dearth, the Ship is truly a piece of work and evolution when it comes to cruise travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
