A corporate leader from the UK has suggested<\/a> that junior employees should be working from office for four to five days every week if they want to be promoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work From Office If You Want Promotions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin Ellis, the chair of PricewaterhouseCoopers UK, has stated that junior employees should refrain from working from home. They should work from their workplaces for four to five days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, \u201cIf you’re asking me my opinion on how you succeed in your career. I’d be in the office four to five days a week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that in this day and age, face time and physical presence is important in the workplace. He stressed on this point citing the reason that generative artificial intelligence is taking over the tasks that were handled by the junior staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ellis was talking to Bloomberg at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs Too Advocate For Work From Office<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase and David Solomon of Goldman Sachs have also opined on the same lines. They have also advocated for employees working from the office in order to be mentored and career development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A US survey that was conducted in December showed that remote employees will be less likely to receive promotions and raises in 2023. This also shows that there might be professional consequences for people working away from offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year in November, Infosys asked its entry and mid-level employees in certain verticals to report to the office at least 10 days a month. It is part of its strategy to bolster its return-to-office (RTO) approach and embrace a hybrid work model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, top IT firms in India such as Wipro, Capgemini, and LTIMindtree have been encouraging employees to work from office for either all or at least 50 per cent of their working days per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
