His images of walking Lakshadweep&#8217;s spotless shores and witnessing its vibrant corals first-hand has prompted many travel enthusiasts to add it to their must-visit bucket list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So let&#8217;s explore how to reach Lakshadweep, the top attractions to cover and practical trip planning details in this travel guide blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Lakshadweep?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lakshadweep islands may look tiny on India&#8217;s map. But they are a sparkling gem along the southwest coast &#8211; with white beaches, lagoons and coral reefs untouched by development. Together, the land, lagoons and surrounding sea make these the largest Indian territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lakshadweep<\/strong>: <strong>Location and Geography<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 35 Lakshadweep islands span just 32 sq km by land. But the lagoon area is about 700 sq km and adjoining territorial waters over 7 lakh sq km! So in total, Lakshadweep rivals the size of UP and MP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only 1 island in each of the 12 atolls is inhabited. The islands are shaped like boats &#8211; their eastern sides rest against the reef while the western lagoons have sugary white sand beaches and crystal clear shallow waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How To Reach Lakshadweep<\/strong>?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kochi is the gateway for accessing Lakshadweep tourism. Flights and ships to the islands operate from Kochi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flights reach Agatti and Bangaram islands from Kochi in 1.5 hours. Onward connections are available from Kochi airport to various Indian and international destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During October-May tourist season, ships and high-speed boats connect Kochi with Lakshadweep islands like Kavaratti, Kadmat etc. The journey takes 14-18 hours depending on the destination. Ships offer A\/C cabins across classes along with a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Best Time To Visit Lakshadweep<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The best time to visit <strong>Lakshadweep<\/strong> is between September and May, when the temperature varied between a pleasant 22\u00b0C to 36\u00b0C and tourists can participate in thrilling water sports like surfing, swimming, canoeing, snorkeling, scuba diving, water skiing, kayaking and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Permit Needed For Lakshadweep<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tourists need special entry permits for visiting Lakshadweep islands.
