As per latest reports coming in, Zomato has hiked its platform fee by as much as 33%<\/a>. The fee that was previously Rs. 3 will now be Rs.3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has been implemented since January 1, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zomato\u2019s Response Hikes Platform Fee From Rs. 3 To Rs. 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This move comes after Zomato’s unprecedented online demand spike on New Year’s Eve 2024, which broke the company’s six-year cumulative record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some locations, Zomato charged a platform fee of about Rs 9 on New Year’s Eve during periods of high demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per a spokesperson, \u201cThese are business calls which we take based on various factors from time to time.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Swiggy, Zomato’s competitor, was the first to implement the platform fee, adding an extra Rs 2 to each order. The platform fee goes toward helping the food delivery app maintain and operate flawless services; it is not the same as the delivery fee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this is not applicable to the Customers who have monthly subscription plans, such as Zomato Gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blinkit, Uber, Zepto Charge Booking Fee As Well<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zomato\u2019s q-commerce platform Blinkit also implements a handling charge of Rs. 2 for every order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, Uber, BigBasket’s quick-commerce arm BB Now, and Zepto also charge a booking fee or a per-order fee to improve their economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zomato has recorded some amazing numbers on the year end\u2019s weekend. As per Deepinder Goyal, the founder of the popular food delivery service, \u201cFun fact: We\u2019ve delivered almost as many orders on NYE 23 as we did on NYE 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 combined. Excited about the future!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users of Zomato showed a preference for biryani in 2023, the online food platform disclosed on Monday. 10.09 crore biryani orders were processed on the platform in the course of the year, according to the annual ordering trends report. That’s a significant amount of orders that could fill eight Qutub Minars in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
