Repeating Songs\" class=\"wp-image-1274315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Untitled-design-32-1280x720-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Untitled-design-32-1280x720-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Untitled-design-32-1280x720-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Untitled-design-32-1280x720-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is to encourage people to buy the premium subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is gone?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, free users can still listen to their favorite artists, albums, playlists, and receive song recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users who are on the free tier will now no longer be able to repeat songs, rewind to a specific portion of a song, or go to previous songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sweden-based music streaming service will also limit the ability to rearrange songs in a playlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cMatured market\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotfy said India is one of the top 5 countries when it comes to monthly active users, but the majority of users are still on the free ad-supported tier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country is yet to contribute to Spotify&#8217;s overall revenues in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/business\/spotify-limits-features-for-free-users-in-india-11503671.html\">meaningful <\/a>manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said it is making these changes because the Indian market has matured now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said these restrictions were introduced to make the free experience more consistent across all markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Smart Shuffle\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free users also won\u2019t get to shuffle songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, Spotify has introduced \u2018Smart Shuffle\u2019 in India which will be the default for free users<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched earlier this year, Smart Shuffle automatically suggests music based on user preferences and the song or playlist they listen to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It adds Spotify&#8217;s personalized song recommendations to playlists that &#8216;match the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/business\/spotify-limits-features-for-free-users-in-india-11503671.html\">vibe <\/a>or mood&#8217; of the songs already in the playlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, those on the free tier won\u2019t be able to disable the feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Revenue troubles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move is certainly a gamble for the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Backlash can be expected since the features it has removed for free users are relatively basic and can be found in other services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It could prompt users to move over to other apps like YouTube Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it turns out, Spotify depends heavily on subscriptions for revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It currently generates the majority of its revenue from subscriptions which makes up nearly 87 percent of total revenue in Q2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Premium plans<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Premium is presently priced at Rs 119 a month of individual subscription and includes ad-free music, group sessions, and 10K song downloads per device and can be used on 5 different devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The duo plan costs Rs 149 a month and a Family plan for Rs 179 per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a Mini plan too, which is priced at Rs 7 a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This subscription allows one to enjoy ad-free music on mobile and download up to 30 songs on a single mobile device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotify is also providing an individual Premium subscription for <a href=\"https:\/\/beebom.com\/spotify-removing-some-features-free-users-india\/\">free <\/a>for a month, so those considering buying it can opt for the free trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Audio streaming service Spotify has removed certain features to behind a paywall, meaning free users will have to pay if they want to access certain features which were earlier free.
