This Tuesday, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways revealed the country’s new safety rating system<\/a> for passenger cars which will come into effect from October 1, during the launch of Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) in New Delhi.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bharat NCAP<\/strong> – New Safety Ratings For Passenger Cars <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically, the Bharat NCAP<\/a> was launched by Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this program, the government aims to improve road safety by raising the safety standards of motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the launch of Bharat NCAP, Gadkari said,”This is the time when we have the highest priority for how we can save the lives of the people, and road safety is the most important thing for that. Road engineering is a big problem somewhere; our total process of making detailed project reports is a completely wrong methodology. We are trying our level best to educate our engineers about the types of mistakes we are repeating in road engineering.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The programme aims to provide a tool to the car customers to make a comparative assessment of crash safety of motor vehicles available in the market,” as per the official statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, in this initiative, car manufacturers can voluntarily offer their cars to be tested as per the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The car will be awarded star ratings for Adult Occupants (AOP) and Child Occupant (COP), Based on the performance of the car in the tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Does This Help?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we know that the demand for safer cars is increasing, so the car manufacturers will be encouraged to comply with customer needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this, these new safety norms will also enable Indian cars to compete better in the global market as they will comply with higher safety standards in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only that, it will increase the export potential of the domestic car manufacturers while developing a safety sensitive car market in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, this initiative will definitely boost the segment growth as we shouldn’t forget that India is the world’s third-largest car market presently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
