{"id":1261597,"date":"2023-08-02T09:03:49","date_gmt":"2023-08-02T03:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1261597"},"modified":"2023-08-02T09:04:25","modified_gmt":"2023-08-02T03:34:25","slug":"online-gaming-advertising-in-india-will-be-controlled-monitored-by-information-broadcasting-ministry-it-laws-will-be-changed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/online-gaming-advertising-in-india-will-be-controlled-monitored-by-information-broadcasting-ministry-it-laws-will-be-changed\/","title":{"rendered":"Online Gaming, Advertising In India Will Be Controlled &#038; Monitored By Information &#038; Broadcasting Ministry | IT Laws Will Be Changed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In a latest order by the Centre, it has asked to bring content providers including online gaming services and online advertisements under the I&amp;B Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/children_680.jpg\" alt=\"Online Gaming, Advertising In India Will Be Controlled &amp; Monitored By Information &amp; Broadcasting Ministry | IT Laws Will Be Changed\" class=\"wp-image-1261607\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/children_680.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/children_680-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/children_680-768x384.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online Gaming Services, Advertisements Brought Under I&amp;B Ministry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under this order, the Centre has asked to bring content providers including online gaming services and online advertisements under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of I&amp;B will get the power to regulate policies for gaming content platforms and online advertisements with this move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the gazette notification issued by President Draupadi Murmu, \u2018films and Audio-Visual programmes\/content made available by online content providers\/publishers would be brought under the heading \u201cMinistry of Information and Broadcasting\u201d in the Second Schedule of Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A senior official said that &#8216;this will have to be followed up by making new rules etc for effecting change,&#8221; on the condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ministry of I&amp;B Regulating Policies for Gaming Content Platforms and Online Advertisements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of I&amp;B will get the power to regulate policies for gaming content platforms and online advertisements through this notification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in April, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had released an amendment to the IT Rules, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative was to regulate \u201conline real money games\u201d where users had to risk money to play, while the Ministry of Information &amp; Broadcasting issued a fresh advisory warning media entities, platforms and online intermediaries against airing advertisements of betting and gambling platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back then, the I&amp;B Ministry had taken strong exception to the recent instances of mainstream English and Hindi newspapers carrying advertisements and promotional content of betting websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First time the move to regulate online media was initiated in March 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During that time the minister for I&amp;B Smriti Irani, and the online space was governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a latest order by the Centre, it has asked to bring content providers including online gaming services and online advertisements under the I&amp;B Ministry.
