Recently, a cyberattack has targeted school students in India, with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives<\/a> (PIO) contacting them through calls and WhatsApp messages. The phone numbers used for these communications are 8617321715 and 9622262167.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attackers Pose as Teachers to Obtain Sensitive Information<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attackers are posing as school teachers and deceiving the children into sharing sensitive information, such as One Time Passwords (OTPs), to join WhatsApp groups. They gain trust by referring to someone known to the children. Subsequently, the students are asked to join other groups, supposedly new class groups, and are requested to provide OTPs for access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the attackers inquire about additional personal details, including their father’s occupation, school routines, and timings. To enhance their deception, they ask questions about the students’ uniforms and teachers’ names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities Issue Warning and Safety Measures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to this alarming situation, authorities have issued warnings and safety measures. Schools and colleges are advised to sensitize both teachers and students about this issue. If necessary, existing groups should be dissolved or deleted, and new ones should be created in their place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is crucial to remain vigilant as the list of numbers used for these messages and calls may not be exhaustive. The attackers may employ new numbers and modify their methods to continue their operations.
