one pertaining to appointment of business associates or contractual workers in the US, and one in India, in late February and March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US complaint is being investigated by an <a href=\"https:\/\/m-economictimes-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/m.economictimes.com\/tech\/information-tech\/tcs-banned-six-employees-six-associate-firms-n-chandrasekaran-on-jobs-scam\/amp_articleshow\/101369527.cms\">external <\/a>investigator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TCS has two departments responsible for hiring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One is HR &amp; Talent Acquisition, which hires people on the payroll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other is Resource Allocation Group, which deploys available resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever there is a talent or skill shortage, TCS has a set of business associate firms to get contractual employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TCS works with over 1,000 third-party recruitment firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So what happened?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TCS found there was favouritism and favours were being received in recruitment of business associates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Business associates in company parlance refers to subcontractors or staffing firms that provide contractual employees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A whistleblower alleged that a senior executive at the company\u2019s resource management group was accepting bribes from staffing firms for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Senior exec involved<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Action has been initiated against five employees, including ES Chakravarthy, global head of TCS\u2019s resource management group (RMG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chakravarthy had been <a href=\"https:\/\/m-economictimes-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/m.economictimes.com\/tech\/information-tech\/tcs-banned-six-employees-six-associate-firms-n-chandrasekaran-on-jobs-scam\/amp_articleshow\/101369527.cms\">accepting <\/a>commissions from staffing firms for a number of years against recruiting their candidates in specific contracts, the whistleblower said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taking action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandrasekaran said, &#8220;The company will look at the whole BA (Business Associate) supplier management process and see what the weaknesses are and will completely <a href=\"https:\/\/www-business--standard-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/www.business-standard.com\/amp\/companies\/news\/tcs-takes-action-against-6-employees-for-favouring-certain-staffing-firm-123062900667_1.html\">tighten <\/a>the process to ensure that we do not have such incidents.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also said that TCS is taking a <a href=\"https:\/\/www-bqprime-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/www.bqprime.com\/amp\/business\/tcs-bans-six-employees-six-staffing-firms-in-alleged-hiring-scam\">relook <\/a>at the supplier management process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company has named a new head to oversee the hiring of temporary workers, Sivakumar Viswanathan, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www-livemint-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/tcs-writes-to-board-members-clarifying-details-about-job-scandal-allegations-report\/amp-11687926263668.html\">veteran <\/a>of about 30 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tata Consultancy Services said it has banned six employees and six business associates or subcontractors for accepting favours from certain staffing firms in the appointment of contractual workers.
