Joins Forces With HDFC Bank For Backend Process\" class=\"wp-image-1246882\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Untitled-design-1-5.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Untitled-design-1-5-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Untitled-design-1-5-768x357.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Current situation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In India, only banks can launch credit cards while UPI is for customers to make seamless and fast payments by scanning QR codes through mobile phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple has held talks with the Reserve Bank of India over the modalities of the card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RBI reportedly asked the company to follow regular procedure for co-branded credit cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Collaboration with HDFC Bank<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEO Tim Cook recently met HDFC Bank CEO and managing director Sashidhar Jagdishan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussions, which are in the early stages, had to pertain with the company&#8217;s plans to launch its co-branded credit card with HDFC Bank in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why India?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple is having talks with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch \u2018Apple Pay\u2019 in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This development is not surprising considering India has been Apple\u2019s point of focus for a while now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its sales in India touched around \u20b950,000 crore in the financial year 2022-23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has also opened two exclusive stores in Mumbai and Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is, not to mention, it has been shifting a significant portion of iPhone production to India over China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Limitations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For now only banks can issue credit cards to customers In India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence, Apple cannot introduce a card with its logo and customer&#8217;s name on the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the US, the brand names of Goldman Sachs and Mastercard appear on the Apple card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Positives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of benefits, the Apple card is integrated with Apple Pay and the reward will be deposited into the Apple wallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This card also does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/business\/apple-set-to-launch-its-credit-card-in-india-hdfc-bank-report-101687509656078-amp.html\">not <\/a>have any annual fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the United States, the company lets its card users buy the products in installments without interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apple has plans to launch its own credit card in India.
