The popular messaging app, WhatsApp keeps its users engaged with new features and updates for the platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatsapp Feature Allowing Sending High-definition (HD) Photos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically, this Meta-owned messaging platform is rolling out a new feature on Android and iOS beta, which allows users to send high-definition (HD) photos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In simple words, the users can choose a better quality when sending photos, with this new feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is noteworthy here that the option only appears when the users select a large size picture, as per the media report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, this feature preserves image dimensions, but minor compression will still be applied to the picture, thus sending photos in their original quality is not possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the default option will always be ‘Standard quality’ for all pictures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Therefore, users have to select the HD option every time they want to send a photo with better quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Does It Work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While sending a photo with the ‘high quality’ option, a new tag will be added to the message bubble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is just to inform the recipient that the photo is sent using this feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, this ability to send HD photos is rolling out to some beta testers on Android and iOS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon, it is expected to roll out to more users over the coming weeks, as per the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier during January this year, it was reported that the messaging platform was working on this feature for Android beta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the following month, another report mentioned that this feature was in the works for iOS beta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WhatsApp Introducing Channels<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In another update, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called \u2018WhatsApp Channels\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This latest WhatsApp feature introduces a new type of communication to the world\u2019s most popular chat app, as per the media report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The feature is known as Channels, and it\u2019s intended for one-to-many broadcasting rather than discussion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the social media messaging firm described it as \u201ca private way to follow what matters,\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It mentions local and sports updates as examples of how you may use it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically, Channels is a new tab called Updates, where you\u2019ll find Status and channels you choose to follow \u2013 separate from your chats with family, friends, and communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, Channels are a one-way broadcast tool for admins to send text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to help in selecting the channels to follow, the company is building a searchable directory where you can find your hobbies, sports teams, updates from local officials, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, this feature is offered with most private broadcast services available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 It starts by protecting the personal information of both admins and followers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, as a channel admin, your phone number and profile photo won\u2019t be shown to followers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly,  following a channel won\u2019t reveal your phone number to the admin or other followers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This way, who you decide to follow is your choice and it\u2019s private. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
