Maruti Suzuki has maintained its abysmal crash test rating of 1 star in the first GNCAP crash test for the Indian market for 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2022, we reported that three of MSIL\u2019s most popular entry-level cars, the S-Presso, the Swift, and the Ignis have been awarded a meager single-star rating each<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Volkswagen Virtus has scored a brilliant rating of 5 stars, along with Skoda Slavia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maruti Suzuki\u2019s WagonR and Alto Rated 0 Again in GNCAP Crash Test<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSIL\u2019s WagonR car has been awarded as low as 19.69 points for adult occupant safety and 3.40 points only for child occupant protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WagonR provided good head and neck protection for the driver and passenger during the frontal impact test. The protection provided to the driver’s and passenger’s chests was weak and adequate, respectively, but the protection provided to their knees was little. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tibias of the driver and passenger both displayed acceptable but insufficient protection. Both the bodyshell and the footwell section received unstable ratings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the side impact test, the car provided good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis. Protection to the chest was considered to be only fair. The car doesn’t have side airbags, hence the side pole impact test wasn’t done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the frontal impact test, the child seat for a 3-year-old was unable to stop the youngster from moving too far forward. Whereas, the CRS for an 18-month-old displayed a high threat for the head along with poor chest protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per reports, due to the lack of 3-point seat belts in all seating locations, the car received a score of 0<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus Score Stellar 5 Star Rating<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The safety of Maruti Suzuki’s models has drawn criticism from Alejandro Furas, Secretary General of Global NCAP, who claimed that despite some minor improvements, the company’s most well-known models had not yet implemented their safety commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, \u201cAnother strong performance from Volkswagen and Skoda, but Maruti Suzuki fell well short again on safety performance for some of the most popular cars sold in India. With Bharat NCAP set to launch soon, we challenge Maruti Suzuki to catch up with the other leading domestic manufacturers as well as Volkswagen and Skoda and to demonstrate their commitment to road safety and customer protection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
