As emission standards in India get stricter starting April 1, 2023, top brands are pulling their cars from roads permanently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Maruti<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the introduction of Real Driving Emissions or RDE norms, manufacturers are required to provide real-time emissions data for their vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, they will have to either update their vehicles or discontinue them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some of the most prominent cars that will now see the end of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nissan Kicks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Renault Duster\u2019s departure from the country, Nissan Kicks is now following suit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was available with two petrol engine options starting at Rs 9.49 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honda City 4th Gen<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honda recently launched the fifth-generation City in the Indian market, bidding farewell to the 4th generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new City launched at a starting price of Rs.11.49 lakh, ex-showroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It comes with new features, mechanical and cosmetic enhancements and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It faces off against the recently launched 2023 Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honda WR-V <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is another from the carmaker that will no longer be available for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was offered with two engine options, a 1.2-litre petrol which churns 89 hp and 90 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel that cranks 100 hp and 200 Nm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s up in the air whether Honda will bring back the WR-V in an updated avatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahindra Marazzo <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahindra has had a range of offerings for the Indian market in the last couple of years starting with the new Thar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time it is also axing a couple of products starting with the Marazzo SUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To start with, the shark-inspired vehicle hasn’t been doing as well as hoped in terms of numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it is a no brainer that the brand is letting go as and when the new norms come into effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It started at a price of Rs 13.70 lakh for the base M2 trim going up to Rs 15.95 lakh for the M6+ trim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahindra KUV 100 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another from the Mahindra stable, the KUV 100 failed to impress despite its compact size and general market appetite for compact SUVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just to get a sense of the size, it allowed three people to sit in the front row as it had a bench seat at the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ironically failed to get the attention the carmaker was going for, more so when the seat belt and airbag requirements came into play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It went for Rs 6.01 lakh to Rs 7.67 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The much beloved Alto 800 is going to the scrapyard now that the new Alto K10 has taken its place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carmaker has opted to do away with rather than endure the cost of upgrading the 800\u2019s engine to meet the norms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be dearly missed<\/a>, since it consistently raked in numbers and secured a top position every month in the top 10 list of cars sold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renault Kwid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another small car pulled from the streets is Renault\u2019s Kwid which is also powered by an 800cc engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was one of the most affordable cars in India starting at a price of Rs. 4.70 lakh, ex-showroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
