However we treat the matter of our customers&#8217; data security with utmost seriousness and we continue to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Available for free<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A user leaked 7.5GB of HDFC Bank data for download on a well-known underground hacker forum, the media has reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no payment required to download the data, which means the hacker is not really selling the data; in fact, he is giving it away for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Data up for grabs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hacker claims that the leak contains the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/technology-science\/hdfc-bank-data-breach-exposed-on-darkweb-hacker-leaks-sensitive-information-spanning-9-months-article-98451189\">following <\/a>information belonging to HDFC Bank users:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full names (with middle name included)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Date of birth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Age<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phone Numbers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal Email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work Email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marital Status<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gender<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Residence Address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Permanent Address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pincodes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>City<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employment Information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loan Information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transaction methods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Credit Scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experian Scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LOS ID (Internal Software)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loyalty Card numbers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and other miscellaneous things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recent developments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hack apparently took place just recently in early March 2023, and contains data from May 2022 to March 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday, several Twitter users tweeted about outages, failed transfers and even scam messages on the official HDFC Bank mobile app.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There has also been a surge in spam bank text messages lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Too big to fail\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be noted that SBI, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank continue to remain in RBIs lists of Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In simpler terms D-SIBs are banks whose failure can impact the entire financial system and create instability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is why banking regulators like the RBI put them on a list of lenders that are <a href=\"https:\/\/news.abplive.com\/technology\/hdfc-data-breach-claim-leak-sensitive-information-dark-web-1586810\">too <\/a>big to fail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After several reports emerged that the personal information of nearly 6 lakh customers of HDFC Bank was allegedly leaked on the Dark Web, the bank has said there has been no such incident.
