Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2023 Passed Unanimously<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day of the state assembly’s budget session on Thursday, the Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2023, which seeks to reduce instances of government examination paper leaks, was unanimously approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per reports, \u201cAn examinee who has been convicted of an offence under the provisions of this Act shall be debarred from any public examination for a period of two years. The Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2023 provides for Rs 1 crore fine and up to 10 years imprisonment to prevent paper leak in public examinations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill, which calls for severe penalties, was passed to stop the rise in leaks of official exam papers over the past few years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new bill also permits attaching the assets of those who make wrongful gains through unfair means, along with provisions for strict punishment in the form of imprisonment and fines for violators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Is The Purpose of This Bill?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examinees who are found guilty under the law will not be permitted to take public exams for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of state for the interior, explained the purpose of the bill’s introduction to the house on Thursday. Examinees who use unfair methods will now face up to three years in prison under the new law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per reports, those who participate in or aid actions that violate the proposed law’s provisions through conspiracy or another means risk up to ten years in prison and fines of up to Rs 1 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, those found guilty of violating the proposed act when examination authorities collude with the accused face up to ten years in prison and a fine of at least Rs 1 crore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
