The iPhone 15 series is a thing of the future but certain details seem to have emerged already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September launch likely<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iPhone 15 series is expected to include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expected launch is in September and speculative renders of the iPhone 15 Pro have emerged online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9to5Mac recently obtained <\/a>CAD renders of the Apple iPhone 15 Pro, which reveals a few design changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources of leaks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAD files like the ones these renders are based on are given by Apple to accessory makers in Asia ahead of the launches of new products, so they can have their products ready when the new iPhone becomes official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is to ensure that cases are available when the device launches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accuracy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historically, CAD files have been accurate to the final device in terms of both dimensions and design, as having inaccurate ones would be costly to case designers and factories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The renders obtained by 9to5Mac are said to originate at a Chinese case maker, which apparently got them first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charging port<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most striking addition is the new USB-C port as has been rumored a lot of times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also noticeable is the removal of the iconic Lightning port. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will make it the first iPhone to use the USB-C port, particularly due to pressure from the European Union, which has been pushing for a common charging standard for all smartphones and devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The renders also reveal much thinner bezels as compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curved design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The glass seems to be curved into the frame, while the frame itself is also a bit more curved than before, resembling the design of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and new M2 MacBook Air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If this turns out to be accurate this will make the iPhone 15 Pro much more comfortable to hold without a case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camera<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camera bump appears to be thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro’s, which suggests camera upgrades could be on their way with possibly bigger sensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrangement of the three cameras and the LiDAR scanner inside the camera island remains unchanged <\/a>from last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screen, display<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screen size and resolution are expected to be similar, if not identical, to those of its predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However the panel will have thinner bezels, so it\u2019s likely it will have the same 6.1-inch display in a slightly smaller body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional changes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The power and volume buttons appear to be more capacitive and not physical, while the mute switch is slightly redesigned with a smaller and rounder shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The renders also show that the Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro is retained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Variations can be expected<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do keep in mind, though, that these renders may not reflect “all aspects of Apple’s final design”, according to their source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“However, they do give us an idea of what we can expect from one of this year\u2019s most anticipated smartphones and all of the important changes, like a more comfortable frame and USB-C.”, the report concludes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
