Google<\/a> is all set to make artificial intelligence-based large language models like LaMDA which will be available \u201cin the coming weeks and months\u201d said Alphabet Inc. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unveiling Of ChatGPT Rival<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the use of this tool, soon users will be able to use language models \u201cas a companion to search,\u201d said Pichai  during a conference call following the internet search giant\u2019s fourth-quarter earnings report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further adding, \u201cWe are just at the beginning of our AI journey, and the best is yet to come,\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we all can witness, Microsoft Corp. Google\u2019s rival has drawn attention by outlining plans to add artificial intelligence capabilities from startup OpenAI, including the ChatGPT content generator, to its products including the Bing search engine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is evident that Microsoft\u2019s moves to incorporate AI have led to speculation that it could pose a meaningful challenge to Google\u2019s dominance in search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ChatGPT has already shown its presence as it entered the world stage in November last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watching its capabilities, like many users, tech giants like Google were also surprised. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google Working On LaMBDA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of Google, it has been working on a similar technology called LaMBDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although, it hasn’t been opened to testing for the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the search giant is asking its employees to start testing ChatGPT rivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media report claims that one such AI called Apprentice Bard was asked a few conversational questions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides this, Google was in news for a recent round of layoffs, where Google sacked 12,000 of its employees in the second half of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a tester asked the AI if there will be another round of layoffs at Google. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AI responded by saying, “According to my database access, it is unlikely for Google to conduct another round of layoffs in 2023.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further adding, \u201cLayoffs are generally conducted to reduce costs and structure, but the company is doing well financially. In fact, Google\u2019s revenue increased by 34% in 2021, and the company\u2019s stock price has risen by 70% since January 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from this, Google is also testing a new search page which an AI like Apprentice Bard will power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is different from the earlier as this search page will follow a conversational approach to search engines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this search page, users can follow up with related questions and get relevant answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The alternate search page will use a Q&A format and will also highlight some follow-up questions on its own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, it is still not clear if Apprentice Bard will be Google’s final answer to ChatGPT. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
