{"id":1242205,"date":"2023-02-01T08:37:08","date_gmt":"2023-02-01T03:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/?p=1242205"},"modified":"2023-02-01T08:37:41","modified_gmt":"2023-02-01T03:07:41","slug":"budget-2023-12-more-airports-can-be-leased-to-private-companies-to-raise-rs-20000-crore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/budget-2023-12-more-airports-can-be-leased-to-private-companies-to-raise-rs-20000-crore\/","title":{"rendered":"Budget 2023: 12 More Airports Can Be Leased To Private Companies To Raise Rs 20,000 Crore"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Indian government seeks to raise Rs 20,000 crore through asset monetisation by opening at least 12 airports for private investments, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/business-economy\/industry\/budget-2023-expect-12-airports-to-be-privatised-to-generate-rs-20000-crore-say-sources-article-97087626\/amp?utm_campaign=fullarticle&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=inshorts\">sources<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"475\" src=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Delhi-IGI-Airport.jpeg\" alt=\"Budget 2023: 12 More Airports Can Be Leased To Private Companies To Raise Rs 20,000 Crore\" class=\"wp-image-1242237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Delhi-IGI-Airport.jpeg 960w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Delhi-IGI-Airport-300x148.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/trak.in\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Delhi-IGI-Airport-768x380.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Did This Happen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, the aviation ministry is set to attract private bids for airports like Kolkata, Indore, Vijayawada and others in a bid to improve airport infrastructure across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More asset monetisation is expected to be announced during the Union budget 2023 under the National Asset Monetisation scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;As part of this scheme, 12 more airports&nbsp; are expected to be privatized and this will be revealed in the Budget to be presented on February 1, 2023 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Raising Money Through Asset Monetization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears that the aviation ministry has been tasked to generate Rs 20,000 crore through asset monetisation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides this, they have also set an ambitious goal to invest around Rs 9800 crore over a period of the next 4-5 years to improve and enhance the aviation infrastructure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering this latest development, a major chunk for all this will come from airport privatization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sources said that&nbsp; this seems to be the reason that in the upcoming Union Budget announcement will be made that will attract private investment in the aviation sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further indicating that a list of around 11-12 airports have been prepared and that will be floated for airport privatization.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This list includes airports like Raipur, Jabalpur, Vijayawada, Kolkata, Indore etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is noteworthy here that these are some of the important airports that will be floated for privatization.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems that the cabinet note is ready and post the announcement in the union budget, this could be sent for cabinet approval.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this move of airport privatization, the ministry aims to generate more than Rs 8000 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from this initiative, drones are another key area of thrust for the aviation ministry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering the same, the PLI scheme is announced for drones and drone components earlier with a budgetary outlay of Rs 120 crore will be expanded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the sources, this PLI scheme could be raised to Rs 200-250 crore and will give a major fillip to startups in this thriving sector.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides this, another set of funds will be allocated to the UDAN&nbsp; scheme that aims to connect smaller cities to the national network by air.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Indian government seeks to raise Rs 20,000 crore through asset monetisation by opening at least 12 airports for private investments, according to the sources.\u00a0 How Did This Happen?
