Just a few days back the Indian IT major, Wipro confirmed that it let go of 452 freshers for performing poorly on internal assessments after delaying onboarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Enquiry For Laying Off Employees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now in a new development<\/a>, an employee from the organization has announced that it will be submitting a complaint to the labor department for an inquiry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking on the same subject, the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) , which is a union of IT employees, said that it ‘strongly condemns the unethical layoffs done by Wipro.'”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja said, \u201cFor a year these employees were struggling to join the company despite clearing interviews, training, assessments and internships. The company has not paid a single rupee to these employees and fired them illegally. We will be submitting a complaint to the Labour Authorities to conduct an enquiry.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The employees who were given offer letters on or before February 2022 and were awaiting onboarding, have been informed that their last date is January 2023, Saluja said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delay In Onboarding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems that Wipro has delayed onboarding for freshers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But company\u2019s Chief Human Resources Officer Saurabh Govil said that while it has been delayed, the company cannot offer a timeline on when people would be onboarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further adding that those with higher scores are boarded faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, there is retesting for those with lower scores in some cases, \u201cIt’s a combination,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Need Of Proficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Wipro expects the entry-level employee to have a certain level of proficiency in their designated area of work, ” Wipro said In A statement last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Wipro, their evaluation process includes assessments, and the process and evaluation triggers “a series of actions such as mentoring and retraining and in some cases separation of certain employees from the company.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The email addressing the employees whose employment has been terminated said that they were put through a project readiness program, and an additional technical assessment if they did not clear the former. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The employment was terminated following this as they did not meet the assessment qualifying criteria of 40 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further email mentioned, \u201cAs you may be aware, as per the Offer Letter, either party may terminate the employment by providing (30) days prior notice to the other party.
