TCS has ended permanent remote working for employees and has called them back to the office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How it started<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year in an official mail to employees, TCS called its employees to come back to offices three days a week or according to the roster set by their team supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior leaders have been working from offices for a while now and its customers are also visiting the company offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said to employees that their respective managers will now roster them to work from the office for at least 3 days in a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How it will be now <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now in a recent interview the tech giant confirmed to officially rule out 100 per cent remote work for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COO N. Ganapathy Subramaniam said, “There is a greater realisation that by coming to offices, more things get done, especially for people who have joined us in the last two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When they come and see the offices, they see a different perspective of TCS, they see a different perspective of their own position vis-a-vis their peers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Precaution still maintained <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firm has made the decision considering the general interest among employees who want to return to their desks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, looking at the recent resurgence of Covid cases around the globe, it will continue taking precautionary measures and will not make work from office mandatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subramaniam further added, “We are giving flexibility to our employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But our thinking is that we need to evolve this hybrid model of work, making sure that people do come to office, people do experience it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

100% working from home is kind of ruled out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We expect them to come to office more often and as often as required to experience offices and for their own benefit of learning and sharing.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work from the office is also being considered for employees who joined TCS after 2020 and never visited the office in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Situation last year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the official mail sent to employees last year reads, “This will also be an opportunity to welcome a significant number of our new colleagues, who have joined us over the last two years, most of whom have not yet been in a TCS office”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May 2020 during the first wave of Covid-19, TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan introduced the 25×25 model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
